We were recently involved in an engineering project to install two of our flagship VOCSorber® 30 mobile carbon filter vessels, at a metal recycling facility here in the UK.
The project included the installation of pipework from two separate areas of the facility, directing their gas phase emissions through two large VOCSorber® 30 vessels, plus a smaller VOCSorber® 2 unit acting as a guard-bed to remove any traces of heavy metals.
The VOCSorber® 30 units remove unwanted volatile organic compounds (VOCs abatement) from the gas stream, meaning the site is fully compliant with Environment Agency requirements.
This was an interesting and challenging project, and our involvement extended from initial scoping and engineering design, through to pipework and pump sourcing and installation, as well as the supply of the Clean-Flo® mobile carbon filters containing our FiltraCarb® activated carbon. Once spent, the VOCSorber® 30 vessels will be exchanged for replacement units and the carbon sent for thermal reactivation at our site in Immingham.
The reduction of VOCs is a key element of the UK government’s Clean Air Strategy, so we look forward to many more projects of this type in the coming months and years.
