Landfill Gas Filtration

See how Activated Carbon is used at LFG sites to protect CHP engines.

Activated carbon filtration is widely used at Landfill Gas (LFG) sites to prevent silica deposits and/or H2S corrosion inside the combined heat & power (CHP) generators, dramatically improving efficiency via the reduction in maintenance, downtime and consumables.

The latest installation involving our largest VOCSorber® mobile carbon filters was at a landfill gas (LFG) facility here in the UK.  The site had previously trialed one of our smaller 5m3 VOCSorber® units, then the operators decided to scale-up to two of our flagship 30m3 vessels in order to protect the multiple on-site CHP engines from harmful siloxanes and traces of hydrogen sulfide.

Jack and Joe, from our Sites Services Team, were on hand to supervise the installation of the vessels, complete the required connections and ensure a safe a quick set-up.

Puragen is a leading supplier of carbon filtration services into the LFG and biogas/biomethane industries, and we are active members of the Renewable Energy Association’s LFG and Biogas Groups.
