Landfill Gas Filters

Reducing carbon footprint with larger carbon filter installation

Our final carbon vessel installation of 2019 was at a large landfill site in central England, where the job included the design, sourcing and fitting of all of the pipework, valves and ancillaries for two of our flagship 30m3 VOCSorber® mobile filters.  The function of the carbon filters is to remove siloxanes and other VOCs from the landfill biogas stream, thereby protecting the six on-site CHP engines from unwanted deposits and internal damage.  Despite some tricky weather conditions on day 1 of the project, the two carbon adsorbers were installed quickly and safely, to the complete satisfaction of the client.  The two 30m3 VOCSorber® filters will replace six smaller 2m3 VOCSorber® units, representing a considerable process improvement for the LFG site, in terms of reduced downtime and filter changeouts.  The reduction in delivery frequency also presents a significant carbon footprint improvement, thanks to fewer truck movements.
