WWTP Biogas Filter

Sewage Biogas Case Study

One of our clients, a major UK water utility, required an upgrade to their small fixed carbon filter, used to remove siloxanes from the biogas and protect the CHP engines at their WWTP.  The original 2m3 filter was too small to achieve the required filtration level, so the client  switched to one of our flagship 30m3 VOCSorber® mobile units.  Due to the size of the vessel, it was necessary to place it a short distance from the old fixed carbon unit, so it required the design, manufacture and installation of all connecting pipework, which was achieved in a two-week timeframe.

We are the only UK carbon company with our own in-house vessel/engineering capability. In addition to manufacturing a range of Clean-Flo® mobile carbon filters, our engineering subsidiary can also design, manufacture and install all necessary peripherals, making Puragen a one-stop-shop for all of our customers’ carbon filtration requirements.  Our mobile filters are available for both liquid phase (AquaSorber®) and gas phase (VOCSorber®) purification applications, and offer a convenient ‘plug & play’ solution, meaning no on-site carbon handling and no investment in fixed filter systems.

Once the carbon in the filter is ‘spent’, we simply exchange the filter for a replacement unit and take the spent carbon to our reactivation facility in Immingham, where is it recycled ready for re-use in another customer’s filter.
